Horizon Europe
Horizon Europe is the European Union key funding programme for research and innovation with budget of EUR 95 billion. The programme facilitates collaboration and strengthens the impact of research and innovation in developing, supporting and implementing EU policies while tackling global challenges. It supports creating and better dispersing of excellent knowledge and technologies.

European Defence Fund
The EDF assists companies across Member States in developing competitive and collaborative defense projects aimed at producing cutting-edge and interoperable defense technologies and equipment. It provides participants with guidance and support throughout the entire research and development process.
The Fund’s budget for the 2021-2027 period amounts to nearly €7.3 billion, with €2.7 billion dedicated to collaborative defense research and €5.3 billion allocated to capability development projects that complement national contributions. Financial support is mainly provided through grants covering up to 100% of eligible costs, depending on the activities involved. A bonus system also rewards the involvement of SMEs and mid-caps.

Interreg Programmes
Interreg is a significant European Union initiative aimed at fostering connection between countries, regions, and communities through various funding programs. These programs encourage cross-border, transnational, interregional, and outermost regions cooperation. By supporting projects that address shared challenges and provide sustainable solutions, Interreg helps reduce regional disparities and advance economic, social, and environmental growth throughout Europe.
Interreg facilitates joint solutions for common issues that span borders, requiring collaboration among organizations from different countries. Operating on a seven-year budget cycle, Interreg’s 86 programs for the 2021-2027 period are equipped with a total budget of EUR 8 billion, dedicated to funding projects through project calls.

Digital Europe
The Digital Europe Programme (DIGITAL) is an EU funding initiative aimed at enhancing the adoption of digital technology across businesses, citizens, and public administrations. In today’s interconnected world, digital technologies and infrastructure are essential for communication, work, scientific progress, and addressing pressing environmental challenges.
DIGITAL provides targeted funding to tackle key EU challenges, focusing on areas such as supercomputing, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, advanced digital skills, and the widespread integration of digital technologies into the economy and society. Through a strengthened network of European Digital Innovation Hubs (EDIH), the program aids industries, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), and public administrations in their digital transformation efforts.

European Shared Management Funds
The European Commission and the respective national authorities in each Member State, such as ministries and public institutions, are in charge of running a particular programme. Around 70% of EU programmes are run this way. This approach is crucial for the overall Cohesion Policy of the Union. The most significant support comes from the European Social Fund Plus (ESF+), which supports social inclusion and employment, and the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), which focuses on reducing regional disparities.
